HOW TO CHOOSE PARKET DESK
Parquet is one of the most common materials used for laying the floor. It is made of natural wood and consists of several layers with different uses. For increase in wear resistance oil or varnish covering is applied on a wood surface. In this article we will talk about the main aspects of the choice of parquet and share valuable tips that will help you find the right material.

Parquet construction
As a rule, the design of the floorboard implies the presence of three layers:
Upper – made from valuable wood (cherry, beech, oak, teak, walnut). Some manufacturers use exotic varieties in the production process, such as wenge, merbau and acacia.
Medium – is a high-strength wood-based panels. For their manufacture coniferous trees are used.
Bottom – spruce wood layer, having a thickness of 2 mm.
Production technology
Parquet production is carried out in several stages:
Selection of wood blanks.
Cutting cut boards into pieces of predetermined sizes.
Grinding and fitting of individual elements to certain parameters.
Sorting materials depending on the layer for the manufacture of which they will go.
Final drying of blanks.
Gluing lamellas transversely to each other.
Formation of castle connections.

Selection of floorboard
Consider in general terms the most common types of floorboard selection and their main characteristics:
Radial-select – the highest grade of cut, having the most even texture without pronounced heart-shaped rays. On the surface of the wood used for the manufacture of such parquet, the presence of mechanical damage, knots and other defects is not allowed. This type of material is most often used in the geometric method of laying the floor covering.
Select (standard) – parquet board mixed cutting. It is characterized by pronounced natural patterns without any differences in texture and shade.
Natures – has quite noticeable drops in tones. For manufacturing, tangential and radial sawing boards are used. The presence of heart-shaped rays, small knots and streaks. The percentage of defects allowed is determined by the manufacturer.

Ways of cutting
There are two main ways to cut floorboard:
Radial – allows you to get a parquet of uniform texture and color. The disadvantage of this method is a high percentage of rejection, which increases the cost of the material. Parquet boards manufactured using this method have excellent physical properties due to the low coefficients of swelling and shrinkage.
Tangential – the line of cut is tangential to the tree trunk. Materials made using this technology are characterized by a pronounced pattern of annual rings and variegated colors. Due to the low percentage of rejection, such parquet boards have a more affordable cost.
Parquet care
Protective covering
The most common way to protect a parquet is to varnish its surface. This helps to prolong the life and improve the appearance. To maintain the floor in good condition, it is recommended to use special tools.
The use of high-polish polishes will prevent the likelihood of fading and loss of the original shade, and hard wax is best for protection against moisture and dirt. To clean the surface from heavy pollution, cleaning compositions are used, which are produced in a concentrated form or in the form of aerosols.
The lifetime of the floorboard will also depend on the indoor climate. In rooms with poor ventilation and hermetic windows you can use a humidifier.
Even regular care of the floor will not help to avoid the need for restoration. If the integrity of the floor has been compromised, more complex repairs are required.
In the process of repair work, especially worn strips can be replaced. To change the color of the repaired parquet area, various tinting varnishes or stains can be used.
